Life Interrupted - A Film Review

Updated: Mar 18

Life Interrupted, a documentary-style film depicting the challenges, emotions and stories of women who received a breast cancer diagnosed. The film portrays the raw and authentic nature what a women's body goes through while receiving treatment and reconstruction. Reassurances that although each women's story is unique, the universal themes of femininity, loneliness, mortality and relationships bind them together as they navigate these stormy seas. With an exposé on managing the expectation of procedures, cultural influences and misconceptions often portrayed in the media; the film stresses the importance of self-advocation. At the end of the film, it is evident that stories matter. The women in the documentary undergo yearly check-ups which provokes uncertainty, fear and anxiety. We can all integrate our stories and decide to become empowered, inspired and take life one day at a time. We want to thank Paula Mozen for contributing the images to this post.
